Charles D. Maurer, Jr.

Founder & Owner

Charles D. Maurer, Jr. founded Maurer Law Firm in 1978 in San Francisco, California with offices in San Francisco, San Diego, Orange County, La Jolla and New York. In 2015, the name of the firm was changed into NYIS Law Firm.

As a successful attorney, he has won many cases worth millions of dollars. While he was in La Jolla, Charles D. Maurer, Jr. represented the Plaintiff in a security and commercial fraud case, which ended up in winning one of the cases with the largest amount of money involved in history. In the early stage of his career, he worked as the manager and legal consultant at a Risk Analysis and Research Corporation in San Francisco.

Charles D. Maurer, Jr. is licensed to practice in the state of California, Arizona, Washington, New York and in the United States Supreme Court. His areas of expertise include commercial litigation, high-end real estate transaction, criminal litigation, civil litigation, immigration law, etc. He recently helped China's richest man purchase a luxury mansion in La Jolla.

Charles Maurer, Jr. received the highest possible rating in legal ability and ethical standards (A-V) issued by Martindale-Hubbell. Since 1980, he has won this award consecutively for 41 years. In 2015, Charles Maurer, Jr. achieved the honor of “Best Attorneys of America” bestowed on only 100 attorneys in each state of the United States.

Vera C. Su

Managing Attorney

Vera C. Su is the Managing Attorney of NYIS Law Firm. As a licensed attorney in New York State and a member of American Immigration Lawyers Association, Vera has practiced immigration law, business law and other fields for 10 years. She has acquired extensive experience in providing legal service for Chinese international students and immigrants.

Ms. Su deals with petitions for both individuals and company’s business. She has successfully helped clients apply for non-immigrant visas, including PERM, EB-1, H-1B, P1, L visa and other adjustment of status application. Ms. Su also provides consultations regarding international business expanding and investment immigration.

David Lin

Associate Attorney

David Lin David Lin is an Associate Attorney at NYIS. He is licensed to practice in the State of New York and the District of Columbia. He works in the firm’s legal service department, focusing on employment-based immigration. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Lin used to work at CKR Law, LLP, where his work primarily focused on immigration, civil litigation, and EEOC matters. Mr. Lin worked at Reid & Wise New York office, where he has consulted corporates and individuals on immigration and corporate matters. Mr. Lin has interned for the Honorable Rosemarie E. Aquilina of the 30th Judicial Circuit Court of Michigan.

Mr. Lin has handled cases ranging from H-1s, L-1s, J-1 waivers, EB-1Cs, EB-3s, and EB-5s, as well as fiancé visas, family-based immigration, to citizenship.

Sunny Wang

Associate Attorney

Sunny Wang is an Associate Attorney at NYIS Law Firm. She received her Bachelor of Laws from Heilongjiang University (China) in 2008, Master of Laws (LL.M) from City University of Hong Kong in 2010, and LL.M from American University Washington College of Law in 2011.

Sunny has extensive experience in family-based, employment-based (EB-1A Aliens of Extraordinary Ability, EB-1C Multinational Executives and Managers, EB-2/EB-3 Advanced Degree/Skilled Permanent Worker, National Interest Waiver “NIW”, and EB-5 Investor Immigration Program), temporary work visas (H-1B Specialty Worker, L-1 Intra-Company Transferee, O-1 Individuals with Extraordinary Ability, E-2 Treaty Investor), and citizenship application. Prior to joining NYIS, Sunny worked for the recognized Top 25 EB-5 immigration law firm, where she handled a large number of EB-5 visas for investors around the world.

Sunny is admitted and licensed to practice in the state of New York and China. She is a member of American Immigration Lawyers Association. Fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
